Memorial Day Work Party

I got a physical today! Those are soooooo fun. I especially liked the part where I sat in the room for forty minutes waiting for my doctor to show up. Anyways, guess what?, I'm overweight still! No big surprise there. I also got to have my blood drawn this morning. That was the first time I ever had it drawn. It didn't hurt at all. Getting a tattoo hurts a hell of a lot more than that. It also looked kind of cool seeing the needle slide into my arm.

Tonight I'm going up to camp. I'm really excited about seeing some of the staffers again. I'm picking Rena up in Seattle at about 7 then we are heading up. We'll be up there until Monday morning. I have the feeling I'm going to be setting up tent platforms all weekend long. But it's okay because I'll be with the rest of the staff. Good times.

Wedding Reception

This weekend was a really great time. Probably the best thing was being able to see so much of my family again. It had been about four years for most of them. The reception itself was pretty cool. Lots of dancing, and food. To top it all off, I got to beat up one of my cousins. He needed it. His mom actually wanted me to leave him bruises, but I'm a nice guy. I settled with just humiliating him in front of his girlfriend.

I went to Seattle yesterday with a couple of relatives. We spent most of the day at Pike Place Market. We got to see them throwing the salmon all around the place. After about a minute, I wasn't paying close attention to the guy throwing them, and I suddenly saw a fish coming at me! I caught it and then realized that he threw a fake fish at me. It was really funny. After that, we went and visited my girlfriend for about an hour. They really liked her, of course. Anyways, then we had go and catch the ferry back home. I'm going to be hanging out with a couple of friends today, catching up on old times.

Oregon

Well, tomorrow I'm going to Salem, Oregon to visit me sister and brother-in-law. It's actually going to be their wedding reception this weekend. I'm really excited. There's going to be a lot of family there that I haven't seen in like over four years. It will be really nice to see them again. I'll be down there until Sunday. I bought a new cd player yesterday and it's pretty badass. Not only is it a cd player, but it can also tune in the tv stations and the radio. It also came with software that lets me burn music on cd's as data 1/20 the size of what it normally takes. The result is that I can fit about 450 songs on a cd, although it does take awhile to burn. I made a new mix this morning and its about two hours long. It only used about 85 MB out of the 700 available. The batteries also last about 80 hours, which cuts down on the annoyance of buying batteries. I'm definitely getting a nice selection of cool toys.

Yes Amanda, my tuba has arrived. It's beautiful also. Her name is Danielle. I love her, the sound is so full and pretty. I went to Central on Friday and met with the tuba professor. He's really cool. He want me to just call him "Joe". He also took me out to lunch and insisted that he pay for my food! There is no better way to win over a fat tuba player than with free food. I saw the new music build which will be finished by September. It looks so cool. All of the rooms are sound-proof. Anyways, Rena is over here right now. She's finishing up her homework. It sucks that she still has three more weeks of classes. It's not so bad anymore though, because I know I get to spend all summer with her and I won't be too far off when I start school again. We're going to leave in about twenty minutes to go see Troy at the movie theater. It's supposed to be three hours long. We're both pretty excited to see it though. It's supposed to be really good. Anyways, I just thought that I should post something, seen as it has been a long time. Hurray for summer break!

So now I'm back in Washington. I haven't gotten a chance to see Rena yet, which bugs me more than a little. We both spent Mother's Day with our respective moms. Seeing her during the weekend is a little more difficult because she still has classes for four more weeks and lives in Seattle. It shouldn't be that much longer before I get to see her though. I hung out with Aaron yesterday and will be later today also. We went to see "Man on Fire" at the movie theater. It was an awesome movie. Everything was a hate crime though. The Mexicans, whites, and the black guy all hated each other. Hehehe. Just kidding. All I have to say is that any movie where a guy gets his fingers cut off can't be bad. Now I'm just waiting for my tuba. It's supposed to arrive sometime in mid-morning and it's 9:10 AM right now. Can't be much longer...

It's over...

Well, I took my last two finals today. At eight in the morning, I had my Human Growth and Development test, which only took thirty minutes. Then, I set about practicing string bass all morning for my final at 10:45. After sore fingers, I pulled off a 93% on the test, which should land me an A in the class. I finally sent off a package home today. It cost me $70. Blah. But it DID weigh 95 lbs. so I shouldn't be complaining too much. I sent it out at True Value Hardware. Yes, that is right, Morehead is so gimp that their hardware store doubles as a UPS place. At least I should be able to fit everything in my plane luggage now. I am beyond boredom now. I've been reduced to talking to my blog in an effort to keep my sanity. I've only been working for a few hours also. Tomorrow is going to kill me, I have work from ten to 4:30, with only a thirty minute break at two. It has been real busy these last two hours, the phone won't stop ringing. Anyways, tomorrow a bunch of us are going to see Van Helsing. I have very high hopes for that movie. It looks pretty badass. Well, I hope I have brought a minute of enjoyment to your lives with my rambling, or at least a small vacation from boredom.

My jury went really well. I was pretty nervous but I nailed the first piece. I played "Adagio" from "The Limpid Stream" by Shostakovich and "Tuba Concerto" by Gregson. The second piece could have been a little better, but I think I played very well seen as how nervous I was. It didn't help that it was like 45 degrees in the recital hall! Today, I need to call Olympic College to ask why they haven't sent out my transcript yet, and I need to call Central to schedule my campus visit with them on the 14th. I'm very excited to see the music department over there and to meet the tuba professor, he seems like an easy-going guy.

I'm really seeing the end of my time here in mort now. I'm really excited to go back home, but I'm going to miss everybody so much. I have made so many close friendships over here and I know I will probably not see most of them ever again. I will especially miss all of my brothers. Phi Mu Alpha has made such a huge impact in my life these last two years and they are like my family. I just want to give a word out to all of my mort buddies. I love you all and wish you the best of luck with college. I know all of you will become successful and live happy lives. I'll never forget these two short years with you guys, and know that you have helped me grow in so many ways since I have come here. And for all of my brothers: OAS AAS LLS! Work, Live, Bleed. A special thanks goes out to Logan, for helping me become a complete Sinfonian. I am content that we have taught each other much during your probationary semester and we both have a great experience to show for it. Even though you aren't my brother, you will always be my little.

Formal

Formal was awesome. A group of us went to Mellini Cuccinas beforehand. Good Italian food. Then we needed to go to Walmart because Kyle needed a tie and a camera. So there we are in Walmart, wearing formal clothes. We got more than a few stares, but it was alright. The dance itself was pretty fun. The music definitely could have been better though. I really can't dance, unless its swing, but I'm not adverse to pretending! I still do it very badly, but I wasn't going to let that stop me from having a good time.

In other news, my hell week is over. In the past seven days, I have had three concerts and a few finals. After our concert yesterday, Logan gave me a paddle! (If you don't know, it's a fraternity thing). Then we went with a couple of friends to China Star. Yum! After that, I went to Chris Reighley's recital. He's a graduate euphonium student. He played two pieces and it took an hour and fifteen minutes! OMG. I feel asleep during it and when I woke up, he was still playing the damn thing. I spent the rest of the day practicing my tuba and studying for Music History.

That brings us up to today, the first day of Finals Week. I'm working like 21 hours this week. Today, after I get off work at one, I will go immediately to Baird to practice my jury piece. My jury is at 2:24. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit nervous. Then, at three o'clock, I have my Music History final. That's all I'm going to be studying for this morning. But after today, 90% of my stress will have been relieved. Other than work, all I have left to do this week is a Strings final and a Human Growth and Development final on Thursday. I'll try and stay up to date on how I am doing this week.
