Soup Beans

Our drum major is in this video production class and she asked some of us to be in this video she was filming. It was a video of a soup bean eating contest. My and Ryan Mussetter jumped on it because we were both hungry. We didn't actually have to eat as much as possible, they were just filming us eat it. I had three bowls! I don't think I've ever eaten that many beans before in one sitting. And let me tell you, the aftertaste is not too great. They didn't have any water or anything to wash out the horrible taste. But the beans themselves weren't too bad.

In other news, I got a haircut finally. This was my first one since Thanksgiving break. It looks great also. My brother Shawn Hall cut it. I think I actually got about 20 compliments on my haircut in the past 24 hours. This was probably heightened by the fact that it looked terrible before the haircut. There was more hair on the ground than on my head after Shawn was done with me. Now all I have to do is buy more hair gel, because I'm running pretty low.

Anywho, I get to go home tomorrow! I'm ecstatic. I'm just about finished packing. We're getting kicked off campus today at 6:30, so I'm going to stay at my little's apartment tonight. He's going to drive me to the airport. I had my last class yesterday, and today I just have about six more hours of work. I really hope nothing goes wrong at the airports. I really don't want the first one to get delayed so much that I will miss my connecting flight.... again. I'm going to sleep most of the way to Washington because I don't want to be so exhausted when I get back that I won't be able to stay up and hang out with Rena....and that's just not going to happen.

Its Friday again! I love Fridays. I'm going to Shelby county tomorrow with the winterguard. I'm pretty excited about that, it was good times at the last competition. Anyways, there's only eight more days until I'm on a plane to Washington. Very exciting. Yesterday evening, me, my roommate, and my little went out looking for apartments. We found some pretty nice ones and they'll be a lot cheaper than living on campus since we'll be splitting rent three ways. All Francis has to do is convince his parents that it will be cheaper for them for us to live off campus. We'd actually be able to cook real food and not always have to eat the crap that they serve on campus. If the place is cheaper than where my little is living now, then he will just move in at the end of this semester. He's going to take summer classes. That would be really nice so I can leave my stuff there instead of leaving it all at someone else's house during the summer. It'll be so cool to live off campus with Francis and Logan. Anyways, I hope y'all have a great weekend. See ya.

I put this quote on a comment on my friend Amanda's site: "I rarely pray. I prefer to speak to my goddess through my daily actions, and through my honest emotions. I need not gloss over what has occurred with petty words, twisting them to show myself most favorably. If Mielikki [his goddess] is with me, then she knows the truth, knows how I act and how I feel." -Drizzt Do-Urden. Although Drizzt is a fictional character, that doesn't mean his words aren't true. Think about them. Put them into context with your relationship to your Creator. Going to church and pray doesn't mean a thing if you don't back up those words with actions. Going to church is not going to make you a better person. Just being a better person will do that. Try and live your life to what you believe is righteous. Be a moral person, but don't trample on the beliefs of others. Please comment if you disagree with me or simply want to add your views on prayer.

I can't believe the weather. A couple of days ago, it was in the upper 70's. Today, it snowed. They were just flurries, but its supposed to snow tonight. Now don't get me wrong, I love sunny weather, but it would be awesome if classes got cancelled tomorrow. Its supposed to keep snowing into the day. Anyways, this next weekend I'm going to Shelby county with the winterguard. I have no clue where it is, but it should still be fun. I hope the winterguard does really good. Its exciting seen as we sucked last year. This year we're kickin though. I got a shirt I ordered last semester tonight. On the front it says "Cartmell Hall", which is the name of my dorm, but on the back it reads, "Giving you what you need, Morehead." Then below that, it says in a small font, "State University....". I think its pretty funny. Plus I get to show off where I went to school at when I'm in Washington. The sexual innuendos never end in Morehead!

Lock-In

I feel great! I hadn't gotten very much sleep this past week. I was so tired, that I pratically collapsed on my bed last night BEFORE 10:30! I got over nine and a half hours of sleep. It was so great. Its in the upper seventies right no but overcast. It feels good outside, but stuffy inside. The university probably won't turn off the heat to the dorms until Spring Break. Tonight, we're having a Lock-in in Baird. Starting at nine, we are going to have a giant capture the flag game across campus. At midnight, we're going to lock the doors. I'm probably going to get no sleep tonight, which is fine because its going to be good times.

Yesterday was my roommate's birthday. He woke me up at seven in the morning. He said to me, "Hey Buddy, can you do me a big favor?" I said, "What is it?" He said, "Can you drive me to the hospital? I think I have a kidney stone." Uh buh. So I pull myself out of bed and put some clothes on. I drive him to the hospital and waited until 9:15. I had already called my work and told them that I was going to be late. At 9:15, another friend stopped by and took over for me. He's fine. Apparently, he already passed it before he got to the hospital. What a shitty thing to happen on your birthday. I would rather be in the hospital for a broken leg than a kidney stone. I can't even fathom what that would feel like and how much it would hurt. It made my roommate nauseous and he threw up a bunch that morning. Happy 20th Birthday Francis!

New Sites

You may have noticed that I have added a couple of new sites to my Friends list. "Burnination!" is my friend Amanda Traugott's blog. She plays clarinet here in Morehead. She is a freshman and a pretty cool girl all around. "Meatwad311" is one of my brother's sites. His name is Josh Glass. He used to be a music major and pledged Phi Mu Alpha with me last spring. Anyways, feel free to visit either of their sites; they look pretty good.

Man I hate Mondays. I start classes at 8. I have 11:30 to 12:30 off. I have work and more classes. I have 5:45 to 7:00 off. I have more class until 9. At 9:15 I have my Phi Mu Alpha meeting. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy my fraternity meetings, but I just have NO time to do anything today, including homework; I'm actually at work right now. Anyways, my roommate let me borrow $65 for my Phi Mu Alpha dues (Thanks Francis!), so I'm set with that for this semester. Tomorrow I have my viola final; on Wednesday, I have my trombone final and my Human Growth and Development mid-term. I'm swamped with work I need to do. On the brighter side of everything, I got to talk to Rena last night. We actually talked longer than I expected. We talked a lot about camp this next summer. Also, there's less than three weeks seperating me from going home. I guess I really don't know what it is, but I have grown to love Western Washington. Eastern Kentucky just doesn't do it for me. As I'm gone for longer periods of time, I really get home-sick. I try not to be, but I can't help missing my friends from back home. I hate all the drama that comes along with college. I wish some people would just grow up. I wish others would stop being so naive and look at the world in a different perspective. Why do I feel that sometimes nobody here truly understands me?
