Last Week of Classes

It's the last week of classes and I'm swamped with stuff to do. I have my written strings final today. Tomorrow is my trumpet final. Thursday is my last day of piano, and I have to finish all of my crap for it. I also have a Concert Band recital that night. Friday is my Music History Listening Exam. I get a nice reprieve on Saturday with our Formal. Yay! I'm taking my friend Amanda. Anyways, on Sunday, I have a different Concert Band concert, and this one is outside. Then is finals week! I'll post to tell you about those. I'm not too worried though because one of my friends bought me an entire pack of mountain dew with his flex dollars. Well, I should probably get off my lazy but and start studying for my strings final.

Tuba! Tuba!

I love my parents! They're getting me a tuba! Here's the link for it. Its so cool. It's an $8200 tuba and they're getting it for six grand. It's a 6/4 F tuba. It has four piston valves and a fifth rotary valve. It has a gold lacquer and a nickle silver trim. To go along with my new tuba, I'm also getting a tuba gig bag and a new mouthpiece. The mouthpiece has a gold plating. It's a $150 mouthpiece and it is only costing us $100. This site is pretty good with prices for all my tuba needs. Everything is getting delivered to my house in Washington and should be there by the time school's out. If not, then it should be getting there soon. Now all I have to do is think of a name for my new tuba...

Tuba/Euphonium Recital

I just got back from our tuba/euph recital. Our quartet played in it and we were awesome! We have never played it better before and it sounded so great in the Recital Hall. We played the first two movements of the Celestial Suite by Stephen Bulla. Anyways, the end is in sight. I just have two concerts left, my jury, and my classes left to do. I practiced piano today for about an hour and a half and it went pretty well. Everything is finally coming along. We'll see how it really goes down though on Thursday. Anyways, happy birthday Erica and happy birthday Tharp. Hope you peeps have a good day.

Bachelor Party

The bachelor party went down pretty well. The only problem was that I stayed sober. Oh well, someone has to do it. The first thing we played was Cache 22. He sat in a chair in front of us all and we had to think of 22 reasons why he shouldn't get married. Every time we came up with a reason, he had to take a drink. Then we had to think of reasons why he should get married, and every time we couldn't think of a reason, he had to take a drink. He got pretty drunk. It was fun. My reason why he shouldn't get married was the ever-so-popular "one vagina for the rest of your life." After that, there was just a lot of drinking and hanging out. We built a fire in the front (when everybody was still sober, of course). That was always fun to look at. All in all, the party was good times. I got back at about 2:30 am and collapsed in my bed.

I worked the sound during the Operawork's drag show last night. It was pretty funny. They raised about 150 dollars. At the end there were five of the girls dancing, but they were dressed up as old women. In the middle of the song though, they ripped off their robes to reveal nothing but lingerie. It was a jaw-dropper. I got a picture of them after the show with my new digital camera. Anyways, not much else is going on. I practiced the trumpet today, but still have a lot of piano to do this weekend. We have a Tuba/Euphonium recital on Tuesday night and our quartet is playing in it. We are the EMTLIMR quartet. That stands for "Evil Monkey That Lives In My Room." We think were pretty funny. I now have over fifty "Dew U" points. Less than a hundred to go for my wall light. I can't believe there's only two weeks of classes left. Then its finals week. I'll be on a plane for home three weeks from now. Well, I'll let everybody know how the bachelor's party went down. Until then, have a great weekend.

The Choral studio is doing a drag show as a fundraiser tonight. I'm helping them work it, which means I get to open the door for the contestants. That should be fun. Anyways, tomorrow evening is going to be awesome. One of my brothers is having a bachelor's party. I'm planning on getting very trashed. Hee hee. As long as I remember to practice all of my stuff this weekend and finish my homework, I should be in business. Since I decided not to get a tattoo, I've decided that I want to get a digital camera. I would definitely use it and it would be nice be able to put pictures on my computer and keep only the ones I want. All I have to go is find somebody who will be willing to drive me to Walmart.

I finished my music history paper! Nine pages long. I started it on Saturday and finished it yesterday at 6:00. I'm so glad that's done for. It actually isn't due until Wednesday, but I know I wouldn't have enough time to do today or tomorrow. Anyways, I got an "A" on my Human Growth and Development exam. I'm pretty happy about that because I didn't study nearly enough for it. Anyways, I'm thinking about getting a new tattoo. It looks kind of simple which is good because I don't want to spend too much money. It's also going to be plain black. It consists of a bass clef which is altered slightly to resemble a dragon. I think it will look good on my upper-middle back. The duct tape on my tuba finally came off revealing the hole there where the sauder came off. I hate my tuba. You hear that Betsy? You're a whore! (Betsy is the name of my tuba). Of course I don't have any more duct tape to repair it so I'm just going to live with a hole in my tuba for the rest of the semester. The school obviously doesn't care that much about me. I told Dr. Creasap about me transferring last week. She replied, "Oh, okay." She made a comment to the Concert Band today: "If you don't want to play this music, then you should either change you major, or transfer schools." She should be happy that I'm going to be happier now. It's not like I'm giving up my major or dropping out of school! I used to think that Dr. Creasap sincerely cared about me, but now I realize she was acting purely out of selfishness. One more reason to be glad I'll be out of this shitty town once and for all.

A lot has happened in the past week. In four weeks, I'm coming home, and I'm coming home for good. This is my last semester at MSU. Next year, I'm transferring to Central Washington University. I will truly miss my friends and being able to study under Dr. Baker. Most of all though, I will truly miss my brothers. This time has to come sooner or later though. I really think this is the best thing for me and for my parents. I will graduate a lot sooner over there. I will also be a lot closer to home. Its in Ellensburg, about two hours east of Seattle. I will actually be able to go home some weekends! I'll be able to see Rena more than once every few months. It drives me crazy having to be separated from my home and all the people associated with my home for so long. The music department over there is pretty good. I doubt I'll get the same quality of instruction with the tuba, but that's not the real reason I'm a music major. They're spending $29 million on renovating the music building over there. They have five new CC tubas and a new F tuba. All this school cares about is making the community believe that they care about us. The spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on new uniforms and a grand piano, but neither of those things helps MY education. We already had a good grand piano and most people still prefer it over the new one because the new one is a Yamaha. It will be good to be home. I sent in my application two days ago. They said it will take up to six weeks to process it. I'm going to schedule a campus visit in about a month and check out the music building a bit more. Well, that's all I'm going to talk about right now. I'll try and keep you guys posted on what's going on.

April Fools!

Well, you know that memorandum I was talking about? It turns out that it was an April Fools joke from our R.A. He thought it was hilarious, I failed to find the humor. My mom also called me tonight. She told me that my sister was pregnant. There are just some things you shouldn't joke about for April Fools! So I got caught really good twice today. Oh well, I just thought everybody should know. If anybody else has any good April Fools stories, feel free to comment.

Well, a lot of things have been going on since the last time I posted. First of all, Spring Break was awesome. Hanging out with my friends, being back with Rena, being home. I couldn't of enjoyed it more. I had a listening exam on Monday for Music History and I got an 82% on it! I was really excited because I've gotten a D on every listening test I've taken since I've been here. The written exam I took yesterday might be another story though.

The rest of my week hasn't been as well. Monday night, my chapter had our retention vote. This means that everybody does a secret ballot and votes for which probationary member they want to keep in. If they don't get 75% of the votes, then they are kicked out, no questions asked. In past years, when someone got voted out, they would come before the brotherhood and state their case. This year, it was more of a popularity contest. There were 23 voting members who showed up. A probationary member needed 17 out of those 23 votes to stay in. My little had 16. I'm pissed. He was busting his ass and the people who voted him out didn't even try and get to know them better than acquaintances. Although it is the job of the probationary member to get to know the actives, it is the actives' job as well. Most of them voted based solely on the pad, the pad of which is an instrument used to get to know the actives better. Logan would have made an outstanding contribution to this fraternity and a good example of our chapter. At least the 16 people who voted for him knew that. Eight out of the 15 probationary were voted out. That is retarded. I made it a point to get to know every probationary member in the first week of their semester. There is something wrong with the brother who can't get to know the people pledging his fraternity after a few months. I don't think I want another little. I really tried with Logan and had a great time as his big. We've grown pretty close these last few months. He is transferring to another school next year. He is thinking of University of Louisville. I had to tell the rest of my family tree. They were none to happy about it. I'm the last active member of my family tree and if I don't get a little, my tree will die. I don't care anymore. Logan was my little. Logan will always be my little, whether I can call him that or not anymore.

To top of the week, this morning there was a memorandum on the elevator doors. It said that someone had broken the visitation rights and therefore everybody on the floor must now pay. We lose our visitation rights for the rest of the semester. If we are caught with a female in our room at all for the rest of the semester, we will be written up. First of all, its a stupid rule in the first place. We are all adults, that's the reason we're in college. As long as they aren't keeping me up, I can give a rat's ass if they're in someone else's room past midnight. It doesn't affect me to much because I don't have much use of the rule anyways, because my girlfriend is in Washington. But I do have some friends that are female and they should be able to hang out in my room if they want too. I feel like we're suddenly in 3rd grade again. "Because of one person, everybody must be punished." I only know like five other people on our floor. What the hell is that going to accomplish? We just have a bad hall director who wants to prove to everybody on campus that she has power, so nobody better disagree with her. Well fuck her. What a bitch.
