School has started
Wow. There are definitely a lot of similarity and differences between Central and Morehead. First of all is the Marching Band. I asked if I could get the homecoming game off due to a family reunion, and Dr. Gookin said, "Sure, of course! Just give me a written note so I won't forget." Dr. Creasap would have said, "WHAT?! Are you mad? Of course not! This is Marching Band, the most important thing on the planet during Fall semester!" Or, something like that. The atmosphere is different also. The students here just seem more weary about new students. At Morehead, everyone pretty much went out of their way to meet new people. I don't get the distinct feeling that I live at the Music Building either. Morehead seemed way more laid back that here. For my first lesson, he assigned 4 Blasevich studies, 2 Tyrells, and 2 Rochets. (I think I spelled them right). I also need to start working on the first two movements of the Gregson Tuba Concerto because I will be performing them on Halloween for Octubafest. I also need to buy the repertoire, because Joe Koski is very dedicated to abiding by copyright laws. Other than that, he's a great guy, but I really don't think he understands my money situation. That, or he doesn't care. Oh well, I'm in a pretty good mood anyway. Rena is visiting me this weekend! I'm trying to get a lot of my homework done today and tomorrow so I can have the weekend relatively free with her. We have a football game on Saturday, but that ends at like 4:00, which is when Rena is showing up. The grand opening of our music building is on Sunday, and I got some stuff for that as well. The Marching Band is going to march across campus there and then play "Bugler's Dream". After that, I'm headed to the Concert Hall for some Brass Choir rehearsal, because the people there want to be able to walk around and see all the different small ensembles rehearsing. But that shouldn't last more than an hour, during which time Rena can be working on her homework. Anyways, I'm going to head back to my apartment to work on more of my homework. By y'all.

You're right...Dr. Creasap would have thrown a fit if you asked her for the weekend off. But on a better note, she has been giving major props to Phi Mu Alpha. The music department is changing for the better here bro, sorry you didn't get to see it, but there is a new, positive attitude sweeping through!

So when did you start saying "y'all"? I didn't notice that before you left! And when are you going to get comments that I don't have to sign in to use? Good thing I've got an account...

These comments already came with the template. You can still post without signing in, but you have to do it anonymously, sorry. As for the y'all thing, I don't really say as much as I type it. All Ellensburg really is anyways is the Eastern Kentucky of Washington.

You can turn these comments off, if you want. BTW, yesterday was 4 months with Andy, and we are both in the process of learning Japanese. :) Sayonara!
